Rumah Aman for Girls
Yes, by the Grace of Allah, there will soon be a Rumah Aman for girls and today we took the first step by visiting the proposed site which was donated by a generous benefactor. Located on a hill within Saujana Utama, a new township being developed by Glomac Berhad (whose Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dato' F.D Mansor, is one of our trustees/directors), the site is just a 30 minute drive to the north of Rumah Aman Shah Alam. Being on a hill, the site has a beautiful view of the township.
The architects will conduct the survey and soil test after which they will submit preliminary proposals and cost estimates. We are all excited about the project and we will post news of developments on this blog.

Thank You SMK Tropicana!
The simple ceremony was held during the assembly where Mrs. Rajesh, the teacher in charge, explained that the project was part of the school's program to instill a sense of awareness of the plight of others who are less fortunate. Rumah Aman was selected after she read about our home in the New Straits Times (see previous posting).
After receiving the contributions from Mrs. Sakiah Saad, the principal, Brother Abdul Rehman thanked the students and teachers for their generosity and he advised the students to study hard and show their appreciation to their parents and teachers. He also wished them success in the mid-year examinations which start today.
Located in the Damansara area of Petaling Jaya, SMK Tropicana has a student population of almost 850.
To the students and teachers of SMK Tropicana we say "Terima Kasih" and best of luck for the mid-year examinations. Please do pay us a visit soon.

Our Trusty Workhorse
When it's not out on errands, our trusty 12-seater Toyota Hiace van would be parked in front of our home. It's painted in the corporate colours of the generous people at ABX Express (M) Sdn. Bhd. who donated it to us in August 2006.

About Us
The two storey building has sixteen rooms including classrooms, a library, a computer centre, a mussola, a reception area, dormitories, office space, a lounge area, staff living quarters, kitchen, dinning hall, and laundry, ablution, shower and toilet facilities.
This building is now a full fledged facility to provide the best environment for the raising and educating of orphaned and needy children. It also provides a platform for the other charity work we are engaged in.
Organisation
The day-to-day running of the Rumah Aman is supervised by Abdul Rehman Dakri and Mehrunissa Dakri, who are the founders of Rumah Aman, assisted by a dedicated staff of administrators, teachers, support staff and volunteers.
‘They will ask you what they should give away.
Say:
“Any wealth you give away should go to your parents and relatives and to orphans and the very poor and travelers. Whatever good you do Allah knows it.”
(Al-Baqara, 215).
“Those who have iman and do right actions and establish salat and pay zakat, will have their reward with their Lord. They will feel no fear and will know no sorrow.”
(Al-Baqara, 277)
“The Arash of Allah will shudder with cries of the orphans. Therefore Allah says to His angels: “O My Angels! Who has caused the orphans whose parents I have put in the crust of the earth to cry? The angels replied: “O my Lord! You are all knowing. Then Allah spoke: “Be witness O Angels that those who provide happiness and remove the cries of the orphans I will certainly provide happiness to him on the day of judgment.”
“Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and fair admonition,
and argue with them in the kindest way.
Your lord knows best who is misguided from His way.
And he knows best who are guided.
If you want to retaliate,
retaliate to the same degree
as the injury done to you.
But if you are patient,
it is better to be patient.
Be patient.
But your patience is only by Allah.
Do not be grieved by them
And do not be constricted by the plots they hatch.
Allah is with those who have taqwa of Him
And with those who are good-doers.”
(An-Nahl, 125-128).
Our Funding
Our sister organisation, Our Home: Rumah Aman, in the U.K has also worked tirelessly to assist in our fundraising activities.
Greetings from Rumah Aman
This blog is our response to the numerous requests from our friends for the latest news and developments at Rumah Aman. Although we have our official website, www.rumahaman.com, we believe this blog will satisfy our need for an interactive meeting place for the Friends of Rumah Aman.
We have in our plans for the near future to provide a city-wide transportation assistance program in Shah Alam for the elderly, disabled and needy families. We welcome original and innovative ideas to introduce new and better ways to extend our charitable obligations.
Join us and lend us a hand as we grow to give more and provide the best for the Pleasure of Allah.
