About Us

Our Home

'Rumah Aman’ means House of Peace in the Malay Language. Located in the city of Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia, the ten year old former kindergarten building was bought and renovated with monies donated by a family from England.

The two storey building has sixteen rooms including classrooms, a library, a computer centre, a mussola, a reception area, dormitories, office space, a lounge area, staff living quarters, kitchen, dinning hall, and laundry, ablution, shower and toilet facilities.

In addition to a landscaped garden with a small grassy area for the children to participate in daily physical exercises, there is a playground and a large playing field next to the property which is easily accessible.

This b
uilding is now a full fledged facility to provide the best environment for the raising and educating of orphaned and needy children. It also provides a platform for the other charity work we are engaged in.

Organisation

Rumah Aman is run by Rumah Aman (Shah Alam) Berhad, a company limited by guarantee incorporated in Malaysia on 7th January 2005. We are a non-profit and non-political charitable organisation.
The trustees/directors of Rumah Aman are Abdul Rehman Dakri, Ismail Ahmed Dakri, Datuk HMS Manan Md. Said and Dato’ FD Mansor.

The day-to-day running of the Rumah Aman is supervised by Abdul Rehman Dakri and Mehrunissa Dakri, who are the founders of Rumah Aman, assisted by a dedicated staff of administrators, teachers, support staff and volunteers.

We are affiliated with Our Home: Rumah Aman, an organisation registered with the Charity Commissioners in United Kingdom. Their registration number is 1102689.

Our Vision

To create peace and fulfillment in the lives of the children and people who have been deprived of a normal living environment due to unfortunate and unforeseen circumstances. We base our vision upon the al-Quran and the Sunna of Rasullullah s.a.w.

‘They will ask you what they should give away.
Say:
“Any wealth you give away should go to your parents and relatives and to orphans and the very poor and travelers. Whatever good you do Allah knows it.”
(Al-Baqara, 215).

“Those who have iman and do right actions and establish salat and pay zakat, will have their reward with their Lord. They will feel no fear and will know no sorrow.”
(Al-Baqara, 277)

Rasullullah s.a.w has said:
“The Arash of Allah will shudder with cries of the orphans. Therefore Allah says to His angels: “O My Angels! Who has caused the orphans whose parents I have put in the crust of the earth to cry? The angels replied: “O my Lord! You are all knowing. Then Allah spoke: “Be witness O Angels that those who provide happiness and remove the cries of the orphans I will certainly provide happiness to him on the day of judgment.”

Our Mission

To introduce and propagate the strict non-ethnic, non-racial, non-profit, work and vision of the charity for a sustainable world in peace. We aim to carry out this mission by establishing first class facilities to provide care, security, joy, education and life enriching assistance for the children and the needy in our care.

Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and fair admonition,
and argue with them in the kindest way.
Your lord knows best who is misguided from His way.
And he knows best who are guided.
If you want to retaliate,
retaliate to the same degree
as the injury done to you.
But if you are patient,
it is better to be patient.
Be patient.
But your patience is only by Allah.
Do not be grieved by them
And do not be constricted by the plots they hatch.
Allah is with those who have taqwa of Him
And with those who are good-doers.”

(An-Nahl, 125-128).

Our Funding

We derive our funding mainly from zakat payments and sadaqa from members of the public and corporations and fundraising functions such as charity bazaars, dinners and other events.

Our sister organisation, Our Home: Rumah Aman, in the U.K has also worked tirelessly to assist in our fundraising activities.

We are also blessed by the generosity of people and corporations in and around Shah Alam who show their continuous support by donating foodstuff and other items, organising and sponsoring recreational and sporting activities and providing services at much reduced rates.

All our charity work is made possible by people who share the idea that charity for the pleasure of Allah is rewarding. May Allah s.w.t be pleased with their acts
of charity.
